Palacete Los Moreau

The house in Moca began as something else — a French hacienda belonging to the Pellot family. When Juan Labadié acquired it in 1860, the property ran to 1,300 acres, three quarters planted in coffee, the rest in cane, timber, and cattle. Paul Servajean designed the concrete house that stands now, built over twelve years, its two front towers flanking the porch — one of them the library. Enrique Laguerre made it legend in *La Llamarada*. In 1993 the municipality of Moca restored it and named it for the novel. Laguerre's ashes are interred on the grounds.
