Prospect Terrace Park

The city Roger Williams founded in 1636 is still visible from the park he's buried beneath. Prospect Terrace has stood on Congdon Street in the College Hill neighborhood since 1869, when neighborhood residents gave the land to the city. The approximately 15-foot granite statue, dedicated in 1939, depicts Williams gazing west over downtown Providence. His remains lie in a tomb directly beneath it. H. P.
