King's Tavern

National Register of Historic Places

The oldest building in the Natchez Trace region — built around 1789 as a tavern and inn at the southern end of the Trace, where flatboatmen arriving from the river started the overland walk to Nashville. During renovations in the 1930s, workers found three skeletons sealed behind a wall. The tavern is now a restaurant and bar serving wood-fired flatbreads, craft cocktails, and Mississippi beer. The timber frame is original.
