Lasyone's Meat Pie Restaurant

Opened in 1959 by James Lasyone, this downtown restaurant has served Natchitoches meat pies -- fried half-moon pastries filled with seasoned beef and pork -- that have defined the city's food identity since the 18th century. It remains family-operated and is widely considered the definitive institutional source for the dish.
