Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site

The ranch that shaped the 36th president sits along the Pedernales River in Stonewall, and the state park beside it earns its own visit. The Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm interprets German-Texan farm life from the World War I era, with rangers in period clothing working the land and answering questions. Trails cover 1.2 miles past bison, longhorns, and wildflowers. The visitor center is also where you pick up the free permit to drive the adjacent LBJ Ranch — no separate stop required.
