Marble Falls — Bluebonnet Café

The Blue Bonnet Cafe has been open since 1929, and has anchored its spot on U.S. Highway 281 long enough that the highway feels like it runs to the café, not past it. Breakfast is served all day — eggs, biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak, plate-sized pancakes. The pies are the reason people come back. So is the room itself: ranchers, retirees, truckers, locals, all of them moving through at once, the waitstaff keeping pace without apparent effort.
