Harmony Headlands State Park

The turnoff barely registers from Highway One — a small lot between Cayucos and Cambria, room for roughly ten vehicles, and then a former ranch road heading west. Harmony Headlands State Park preserves 784 acres of California's Central Coast, land that spent over a century as cattle range before the American Land Conservancy purchased it and deeded it to the state, creating the park in 2008. A trail extends to coastal bluffs above the Pacific. Dogs and bikes stay behind.
