Robin Lake Beach at Callaway Gardens

Cason Callaway dammed streams to make 13 lakes out of exhausted cotton fields, and the one that became Robin Lake Beach opened in 1953, a year after Callaway Gardens itself. It's one of the largest manmade white-sand beaches in the world — freshwater, calm, maintained for families. Herschend Family Entertainment acquired it along with the resort's other revenue-producing assets in 2022. It's a constructed thing, openly so, and that honesty is part of what makes it work.
