Whitney Gardens and Nursery

Bill Whitney started experimenting with rhododendrons around 1930. By 1955, he and his wife Faye had moved their nursery to Brinnon, on Hood Canal, where the garden now spreads across seven acres along Highway 101. Some of the rhododendrons are 80 years old. Admission is two dollars. The spawning chum salmon arrive in the creek from late November through December — reason enough to come back.
