The basin sits within Olympic National Park's alpine region, one of four distinct regions in a park that also holds Pacific coastline, temperate rainforest, and drier east-side forest. The park has drawn over 3.7 million visitors in a single year; the alpine interior sees a fraction of that. Getting there takes work. That's the point.
