Pacific Grove Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary

Monarch butterflies migrate to Pacific Grove from throughout the western United States, clustering in the eucalyptus and pine to wait out the winter — roughly from the autumnal equinox through the spring. The surrounding sea tempers the weather in their favor. Admission is free. And there is a fine of $1,000 for molesting or interfering with a single one of them.
