Cornell University Campus

The Cascadilla Gorge Trail runs just over a mile from downtown Ithaca to the edge of Cornell's campus, following the creek through forested gorge terrain past waterfalls and stone staircases and footbridges built in the 1920s. The lower trailhead opens at Treman Triangle Park on Linn Street; the upper end sits near the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts on College Avenue. Swimming is prohibited — the currents don't negotiate. On the West Campus side, nine Collegiate Gothic residence halls built between 1913 and 1931 house a war memorial cloister inscribed with the names of 264 Cornellians who died in World War I.
